Welcome to Boddington, a place where nature, history, and community flourish harmoniously. In this blog post, we’ll take you on a virtual tour through the beloved walk trails, historical sites, and lively community hubs of Boddington.
The Delightful Walk Trails
Boddington Walk Trail
The town of Boddington is nestled alongside a beautiful river which offers a serene walk trail where you can immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature. During summer, the Lions Weir becomes a bridge to the other side of the river, allowing you to marvel at the wildlife inhabiting the river’s edge. Take advantage of the available BBQ spaces and gazebos to enjoy a calm picnic with your loved ones.
Ranford Pool Walk Trail
Starting from the Lions Weir, the Ranford Pool Walk Trail takes you to the historical Ranford Pool — a popular swimming hole among local children. The trail is well-marked and includes informative signs about the various bird and fish species living in the area.
Tullis Bridge and Tullis Bridge Walk Trail
Tullis Bridge, a historical landmark built in 1912, is located about 9km out of Boddington. A walk trail links Boddington to the bridge, taking you through open fields and timber reserves along a 16km return trip. Once at Tullis Bridge, you can have a picnic or simply relax under the tree canopy. A separate 3km trail circles around the bridge and river, offering a shorter adventure. Check out this video for a glimpse of the Tullis Bridge trail.
Historical Sites
St Albans Church and Marradong Cemetery
The St Albans Church, founded in 1894, is a historical site located about 1km from the turn-off on the Pinjarra – Williams road. Its stunning jarrah flooring, tin roof, and old kerosene lamps exude a timeless charm. The cemetery behind the church offers a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside, reminding visitors of the lost Marradong Town.
Dilyan’s Grave
On Bannister/Marradong Road, 5km south of Boddington, you’ll find Dilyan’s Grave — the final resting place of a brave and skilled tracker who was killed due to a tribal feud in 1886.
